Socomec North America (NAM) is Socomec’s organization overseeing all operations in North America.

The IT Director, North America, is responsible for leading all aspects of IT operations, infrastructure, and digital transformation initiatives across the North American region of a global organization. This is a hands‑on leadership role, requiring deep technical expertise in infrastructure, ERP, automation, and network management. The IT Director will drive operational excellence, ensure robust and secure IT systems, and support the rapid growth of the region by leveraging technology to deliver business value. The role requires close collaboration with global IT leadership and regional business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Strategic & Operational Leadership

Develop and execute the North American IT strategy in alignment with global objectives and regional business needs.

Serve as the primary IT leader for North America, acting as a bridge between regional operations and global IT governance.

Lead, mentor, and develop a geographically distributed IT team (helpdesk, network/infrastructure, ERP, automation) across Canada and the USA.

Technical Leadership

Act as a senior technical expert, directly engaging in the design, deployment, troubleshooting, and optimization of IT infrastructure (networks, servers, storage, cloud platforms, security).

Oversee and participate in the management and support of multiple ERP systems, ensuring integration, reliability, and scalability.

Lead automation initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and support business growth.

Infrastructure & Operations

Ensure high availability, performance, and security of all IT systems and infrastructure.

Oversee network architecture, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.

Evaluate, recommend, and implement new technologies to enhance infrastructure and support business objectives.

Project & Change Management

Plan and deliver complex IT projects, including infrastructure upgrades, ERP rollouts, and automation initiatives.

Collaborate with business leaders to gather requirements, define project scope, and ensure successful delivery.

Drive organizational change by promoting digital adoption and fostering a technology‑forward culture.

Vendor & Budget Management

Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, including contract negotiation and performance evaluation.

Prepare and manage the annual IT budget for North America, ensuring cost‑effective delivery of IT services.

Control expenditures, and take appropriate measures to ensure that the overall business plan is achieved.

Compliance & Security

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to IT operations and data security.

Implement and maintain robust cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive data and systems.

Safety

Develop and promote a culture of prevention across the IT organization.

Assess risks at the earliest stage and implement the appropriate means of prevention.

Update, inform and apply safety guidelines.

Collaborate with Corporate Safety department as needed.

Human Resources

Strategic Talent Management: lead, develop, mentor, and engage direct reports to consistently meet goals.

Work to help maintain a culture that embraces the core values of Socomec, fostering a positive and engaging working environment.

Provide effective performance feedback, encouragement, and recognition to direct reports and across functional areas.

Manage resources in response to fluctuating business needs, changing priorities, and unforeseen problems, all in the most efficient manner.

Transversal Collaboration

Develop and maintain strong and effective business relationships with NAM teams and the key corporate Socomec leaders.

Work in collaboration with the senior leaders regarding overall business direction, product innovation and value propositions.

Essential Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).

10 to 15 years of progressive IT experience, including at least 5 years in a senior IT leadership role within a complex, multi‑site environment.

Proven hands‑on expertise in IT infrastructure, network architecture, and ERP systems (multiple platforms).

Experience leading distributed teams across multiple locations.

Strong project management skills, with a track record of delivering complex IT projects on time and within budget.

Deep knowledge of cybersecurity, compliance, and IT best practices.

Experience working in a global or matrixed organization is highly desirable.

Advanced technical skills in infrastructure, networking, cloud platforms, and ERP systems.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

Ability to work hands‑on while also providing strategic direction.

Vendor management and contract negotiation skills.

Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

Experience in change management, with the ability to drive organizational change and overcome resistance to new ideas.

Successfully cultivated and managed strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Resourceful, energetic; self‑directed yet able to collaborate effectively.

Focused on the achievement of strategic goals; consistently meets or exceeds targets.

Manages risks; anticipates and communicates in advance any potential issues and their impact.

Is client‑centric, proactively anticipates and actions business needs.

Strong experience leading and motivating a team of professionals within a complex environment; encourages and demonstrates accountability.

Additional Specific Requirements

Must possess and maintain an unrestricted valid driver’s license.

Ability to travel to international destinations; must possess and maintain a valid passport for international travel.

Must be available for business travel to international locations.
