Hybrid/Local AWS Network Architect with BGP/OSPF, firewall, VPN, encryption, HA/load balancing, failover, Terraform/Ansible, CI/CD, Azure/Google Cloud Platform, Zero Trust, NetFlow/CloudWatch/Prometheus experience
Location: Austin, TX (HHSC)
Duration: 8 Months
Position will be 2 days remote with 3 days (Mon, Wed, Thu) required to be onsite at the location listed above. Program will only accept LOCAL ONLY candidates for this position.
Key Responsibilities
Architect and implement hybrid and multi-cloud connectivity patterns to integrate existing on-prem data center networks with AWS services.
Design secure, high-performance network architectures that meet compliance, governance, and business continuity requirements.
Collaborate with cloud, security, and infrastructure teams to enable seamless migrations and optimize network operations.
Establish network governance standards and best practices to support long-term growth and evolving enterprise needs.
Ensure routing, segmentation, and security policies are aligned with enterprise architecture principles.
Drive high availability and disaster recovery strategies for mission-critical workloads.
Required Skills
Extensive experience in network architecture across AWS and on-premises environments.
Strong knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), network segmentation, and firewall technologies.
Hands-on experience with hybrid connectivity solutions (VPN, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway).
Expertise in network security principles, including encryption, identity, and compliance frameworks.
Proficiency in high availability design, load balancing, and failover strategies.
Familiarity with network automation tools (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD integration for infrastructure.
Knowledge of multi-cloud networking (Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and cloud-native networking services.
Understanding of Zero Trust architecture and advanced security models.
Experience with SD-WAN technologies and network observability tools (NetFlow, CloudWatch, Prometheus).
Cost optimization strategies for cloud networking.
Certifications such as AWS Advanced Networking Specialty, Cisco CCNP/CCIE, or Azure Network Engineer Associate.
Preferred Experience
Experience with multi-cloud networking (Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and cloud-native networking services.
Knowledge of Zero Trust architecture and advanced security models.
Exposure to SD-WAN technologies and network observability tools.
Understanding of cost optimization strategies for cloud networking.
