Probabilistic Risk Assessment Engineer , based in

San Francisco, CA . This senior position is ideal for candidates with extensive experience in nuclear safety, risk assessment, and regulatory engagement who are passionate about licensing the next generation of advanced reactors.

In this role you will be responsible for leading the development and integration of Hadron's comprehensive safety case, serving as the critical link between our engineering team and regulatory authorities. You will spearhead the

Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA)

efforts, develop key sections of the

Safety Analysis Report (SAR) , and define the

licensing basis

for our micro modular reactor. You will build and defend the definitive argument that proves our design meets and exceeds all safety requirements.

Qualifications & Skillsets

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in

Nuclear Engineering

or a related field

5+ years of experience in nuclear safety analysis, probabilistic risk assessment, and reactor licensing

Deep expertise in PRA methodologies (Level 1, 2, and 3) and familiarity with ASME/ANS PRA standards

Direct experience interfacing with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and navigating 10 CFR Part 50 or Part 52 licensing processes

Proven ability to develop, write, and defend sections of a Safety Analysis Report (SAR)

Proficiency with PRA software such as SAPHIRE, RiskSpectrum, or equivalent

Strong understanding of severe accident phenomena, reactor systems, and thermal‑hydraulics

Experience with advanced reactor or non‑LWR licensing is a major plus

Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills

Passion for clean energy and a startup‑minded approach to problem‑solving
