Job Description Job Description A Home Care Aide (HCA) provides non-medical care and support to clients in their homes, including assistance with daily living activities like bathing, dressing, and grooming; companionship; and monitoring the client's health. HCAs help clients, often the elderly or those with disabilities, maintain their independence and quality of life in familiar surroundings by providing both physical assistance and emotional support. Key Responsibilities Personal Care: Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, and using the toilet. Household Tasks: Performing light housekeeping, laundry, dishes, and grocery shopping. Planning, preparing, and serving meals, and monitoring dietary needs. Health Monitoring: Observing and documenting vital signs, recording intake and output, and reminding clients to take medication. Companionship: Providing emotional support, social interaction, and engaging clients in their community. Communication: Reporting changes in a client's condition to supervisors or nurses and maintaining health records. Assistance with Mobility: Helping clients use mobility aids, such as canes or walkers, and assisting with repositioning. Essential Qualities Empathy and Compassion: The ability to connect with and care for clients with patience and understanding.
