Architect III - Data Architect Western Alliance Bank – Dallas/Irving, TX.

What You’ll Do The Data Architect guides technology delivery teams and business users in implementing the end‑to‑end enterprise data architecture, patterns, and standards, and collaborates with data engineers, data governance, and enterprise architects to build and enhance data warehouse and analytics data models for Regulatory Reporting and requirements of large financial institutions.

Advocate and evangelist of architecture principles, standards, and patterns across the organization.

Identify, propose, and lead opportunities to advance the architecture in the platform or domain through new technology and reuse of existing products, services, and platforms, incorporating them into roadmaps.

Utilize broad skills from multiple domains to provide a broader perspective and capitalize on opportunities for soft skill development essential for an Architect.

Oversee and validate the end‑to‑end design for data flows, data integration, and data analytics regulatory reporting solutions.

Advance data standards through the governance operating model and guide the data governance team in using the platform.

Oversee onboarding of projects to the enterprise data platform architecture and incorporate data governance processes and tooling for any new data assets.

Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models with data architects, engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders.

Integrate data governance and data quality controls into the architecture and design for end‑to‑end regulatory reporting data solutions.

Work with business and technology leaders to identify new data types and assets that can improve risk posture, insights, products, and profitability.

Collaborate with teams managing data silos and marts to identify opportunities and wins from enterprise data assets.

Contribute architecture artifacts such as standards, patterns, and roadmaps for enterprise data platforms.

Translate business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint, documenting all solution architecture design and analysis work.

Analyze technology industry, competitors, and market trends and assess their potential impact on the enterprise.

Facilitate evaluation and selection of software product standards and services, and design of standard and custom software configurations.

Identify the organizational and financial impact of solution designs.

What You’ll Need

10+ years of related experience, with 5+ years in a data or platform architecture role.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Intermediate knowledge of financial services or banking.

Intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules, and industry standards.

Intermediate experience with Enterprise Architecture Governance principles and processes.

Intermediate to advanced experience in Enterprise Architecture across business, technology, engineering areas.

Intermediate speaking and writing communication skills.

Intermediate experience with Cloud Computing Platforms – Azure.

Intermediate experience using data modeling tools such as Erwin.

Deep understanding & experience designing & implementing modern solutions related to data visualization, data modeling, data transformation, and analytics.

Experience designing & deploying applications into public cloud services and consuming value‑added PaaS data and analytics services from major cloud providers (Azure, AWS, GCP).

Deep understanding of strategic new and emerging technology trends and their practical application.

Significant experience developing architecture blueprints, strategies, and roadmaps.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to develop content for & communicate with executive stakeholders as well as engineering & Scrum teams.

Ability to build trust and influence business and IT leaders and development teams.

Objective mindset thinking ‘enterprise first’ and unbiased toward specific technology or vendor choice.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Experience with cloud‑native analytics and data management tooling (preferred).

Knowledge of different modeling languages (e.g. ArchiMate) (preferred).

Experience delivering & operating in the banking industry (preferred).
