What you’ll do

The Data Architect is accountable to guide technology delivery teams and business users in the appropriate implementation and use of the end‑to‑end enterprise data architecture, patterns, and standards. The Enterprise Data Architect is responsible for collaborating and contributing with data engineers, data governance, and enterprise architects to build and enhance data warehouse and analytics data model definition and standards. The focus of this role is to deliver the end‑to‑end data architecture and data models required for Regulatory Reporting, including Large Financial Institution requirements. The Data Architect collaborates with Data Platform Architects on architecture, design, standards, and frameworks that will help define and implement a data platform to support our data strategy. This challenging role integrates business, data management, and data governance knowledge to develop a cross‑business unit data tier that can be leveraged in new and innovative ways to improve our products and insights. This role requires strong strategic and critical thinking skills as well as communication and collaboration to develop relationships across the organization to enable and advance the data strategy that supports our growth trajectory.

Responsibilities Advocate and evangelist of architecture principles, standards, and patterns across the organization. You are a trusted & strategic partner for your delivery organization and engineers.

Identify, propose, and lead opportunities to advance the architecture in the platform or domain through use of new technology, reuse of existing products, services, and/or platforms while helping to incorporate those opportunities into application or platform roadmaps.

Utilize broad skills from across several domains to provide a broader perspective and take advantage of opportunities to work on soft skills that are essential for an Architect.

Oversee and validate the end‑to‑end design for the data flows, data integration, and data analytics Regulatory Reporting solutions.

Responsible to advance data standards through the data governance operating model as well as provide guidance to the data governance team in the use of the data governance platform.

Accountable to oversee the onboarding of projects to the enterprise data platform architecture as well as incorporating data governance processes and tooling to any data assets introduced by the project.

Accountable for the development of the conceptual, logical, and physical data models in collaboration with data architects, data engineers, data analysts, and business stakeholders.

Accountable to integrate data governance and data quality controls in the architecture and design for the end‑to‑end regulatory reporting data solutions.

Works with business and technology leaders to identify new data types and assets that can be leveraged to improve our risk posture & insights that in turn improve our products and profitability.

Collaborates with various teams managing data silos and marts to identify opportunities & wins associated with contributing to & leveraging enterprise data assets.

Contribute to architecture artifacts related to the enterprise data platforms such as standards, patterns, & architectural roadmaps.

Translates business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives and documents all solution architecture design and analysis work.

Analyzes the technology industry, competitors, and market trends, and determines their potential impact on the enterprise.

Facilitates the evaluation and selection of software product standards and services, as well as the design of standard and custom software configurations.

Identifies the organizational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures, or culture) and financial impact of solution designs.

What you’ll need 10+ years of related experience, with 5+ years in a data or platform architecture role.

Bachelor’s degree in related field required.

Intermediate knowledge of general Financial Services or Banking is preferred.

Intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.

Intermediate experience working with Enterprise Architecture Governance principles and processes.

Intermediate to advanced experience in Enterprise Architecture function spanning business, technology, engineering areas within an organization.

Intermediate speaking and writing communication skills.

Intermediate experience in Cloud Computing Platforms - Azure.

Intermediate experience in the use of data modeling toolset such as Erwin.

Deep understanding & experience in designing & implementing modern solutions related to data visualization, data modeling, data transformation, and analytics.

Experience designing & deploying applications into public cloud services and consuming value add PaaS data and analytics services from the major cloud providers (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP).

Deep understanding of strategic new and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models.

Significant experience developing architecture blueprints, strategies, and roadmaps.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and is able to develop content for & communicate with Executive Level stakeholders as well as Engineering & Scrum teams.

Ability to build trust and respect as a thought leader who can influence and persuade business and IT leaders and development teams.

The objective mindset is able to think ‘enterprise first’ and remain unbiased toward any specific technology or vendor choice, with decisions made based on data, analysis, & POC results.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Experience working with Cloud-native Analytics and Data Management tooling preferred.

Knowledge and understanding of different modeling languages (e.g. ArchiMate) preferred.

Experience delivering & operating in the Banking industry preferred.
