Join us for this incredible opportunity at the Hyatt‑managed Grand Hyatt Washington hotel located in the heart of Washington, D.C. You will be part of the opening team for our brand‑new restaurant Oribu, featuring upscale MediterAsian cuisine. Summary
We are looking for a Sous Chef to lead and inspire our kitchen staff in the creation of culinary masterpieces. While this person will work primarily in our restaurant kitchen, they must have the flexibility to help in other kitchen areas as needed. Compensation
Salary range: $66,100 to $73,500. Responsibilities
Menu planning and designing the plating presentation for each dish. Ensuring that all food meets the highest quality standards and is served on time. Hiring and training kitchen staff to prepare and cook all menu items. Collaborating with the restaurant operations team. Optimizing staff productivity. Managing kitchen workflow during peak times or when a station needs additional support. Managing product inventory and placing orders as needed. Ensuring best practices are followed for safety and sanitation in the kitchen. Monitoring new industry trends. Incorporating feedback from staff and guests to make improvements. Managing scheduling, payroll, coaching, training, and development of team members. Ensuring full compliance with Department of Health regulations and Hyatt standards. Qualifications
Must possess strong leadership, communication, organization, and relationship skills. Passion for creating incredible food that delights and attracts customers. Creative and innovative thinking. Exceptional standards for cleanliness, health, and safety. Experience with training, basic financial management, and customer service. Proficient in general computer knowledge. A true desire to exceed guest expectations in a fast‑paced customer service environment. Capable of producing a consistent product in a timely manner. Culinary education and/or on‑the‑job training with in‑depth skills and knowledge of all kitchen operations and cooking techniques. Availability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Benefits
