Position Overview
L’Ermitage Beverly Hills is seeking an experienced, hands‑on Director of People & Culture to lead all Human Resources operations for our elegant, luxury hotel. This role is responsible for shaping the employee experience —overseeing talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, payroll, benefits, compliance, and culture—while serving as a trusted advisor to the General Manager and leadership team.
The Director of People & Culture plays a visible, service‑oriented leadership role, ensuring people practices reflect L’Ermitage’s five‑star, five‑diamond, two‑Michelin Key service standards, values, and commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead full‑cycle recruitment across all departments, including job postings, sourcing, interviews, and hiring compliance
Build strong candidate pipelines and partner closely with department leaders on selection decisions
Oversee onboarding, offer letters, background checks, I‑9/E‑Verify, payroll setup, and benefits enrollment
Lead new hire orientations to deliver a welcoming and compliant first impression
Learning, Development & Engagement
Direct learning and development initiatives, including administration of the Typsy platform
Partner with leaders to create training pathways that support service excellence and career growth
Champion employee engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives
Drive participation in engagement surveys and support leaders in developing action plans
Payroll, Benefits & HR Operations
Oversee payroll administration in partnership with accounting and corporate payroll teams
Ensure accuracy of timekeeping, job codes, rates, and payroll approvals
Manage benefits administration, open enrollment, audits, and eligibility tracking
Serve as escalation point for wage verifications, unemployment claims, garnishments, and audits
Employee Relations, Compliance & Risk Management
Serve as senior advisor on employee relations, performance management, coaching, and corrective action
Lead investigations and ensure fair, consistent application of company policies
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws and posting requirements
Oversee mandatory training, including anti‑harassment and workplace safety programs
Maintain personnel files in compliance with record retention requirements
Leadership & Strategic Partnership
Partner closely with the General Manager and leadership team on workforce planning and labor strategy
Develop and standardize People & Culture SOPs and best practices
Provide guidance on labor cost management, succession planning, and leadership development
Participate in leadership meetings and corporate People & Culture forums
Qualifications
5+ years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience, preferably in luxury hospitality
Bachelor’s degree preferred; PHR or SPHR certification a plus
Strong working knowledge of HRIS, payroll systems, and California labor regulations
Proven ability to lead with discretion, integrity, and sound judgment
Exceptional communication, organizational, and relationship‑building skills
Spanish language proficiency a plus
