Job Summary Under the direction of the Associate Commissioner for State Supported Living Centers, the Director leads and manages the SSLC, overseeing 24‑hour residential services, behavioral treatment, health care, and other supports for residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role sets vision, strategic direction, and business functions, and communicates with staff, residents, families, and stakeholders.

Essential Job Functions

Administers the organization and operation of the SSLC to execute the Commissioner’s goals.

Directs planning, implementation, coordination and evaluation of SSLC policies.

Maintains a workforce appropriately trained and supports its mission.

Directly supervises executive leadership team and manages departmental supervisors.

Ensures health, safety, care, training and treatment meet best‑practice standards.

Manages fiscal resources and oversees repairs and improvements.

Builds partnerships with state, community stakeholders and represents the SSLC in various settings.

Participates in disaster response or continuity operations as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to ICF‑IID, TAC, HHSC policies, and the DOJ Settlement Agreement.

Experience leading and supervising large numbers of employees.

Ability to develop effective partnerships, policies, and innovative programs.

Skill in implementing operational plans and quality improvement plans.

Strong written and oral communication abilities.

Basic computer skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of management experience in a residential facility for persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities, or healthcare/mental health services.

OR Master’s degree and at least 3 years of management experience.

Experience developing and implementing operational plans for a large organization.

Experience ensuring quality services and training for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Experience managing multiple departments and developing policies.

Additional Information

Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre‑employment drug screen, and registry checks.

Flexibility in work hours, overtime, weekends, holidays may be required.
