The Southwest Regional Business Class (BC) Lead for Dams, Levees and Civil Works (DLCW) is responsible for the direction, coordination and quality of work for the dam, levee, civil works and flood risk management projects in the Southwest operating region of HDR.

The duties of the position include coordinating, facilitating and providing risk management for large-scale multi-discipline and multi-benefit projects with a high degree of technical complexity. The position will build and maintain client and area business class relationships and participate in project development and contract document preparation. The person will mentor mid- and junior-level staff across a variety of disciplines to facilitate growth and quality project delivery in the region. The position will participate in and provide oversight to a variety of project types, including the planning, design, inspection and construction management of interior drainage and riverine flood risk management projects; dams and reservoirs; ecosystem restoration; drainage; and general site civil of major water management infrastructure. The SW Regional BC Lead will coordinate, on a regional basis, projects with inter-related disciplines such as hydrology, hydraulics, structural, geology, geotechnical, civil, mechanical, CADD and GIS. The position will also require coordination with HDR’s other regional and corporate business class technical leads and advisors. The position will also be expected to reinforce the Quality Management Program (QMP) and participate in staff training as needed. As a SW Regional BC Lead, you will participate in the corporate management of the DLCWs program. Work assignments may include technical and quality reviews of projects outside of your geographic area. HDR utilizes a robust workshare program, and it is common and expected that work is shared across the HDR network between our operational areas. You will be coordinating with regional operations management as well as corporate business class leadership. As requested by the DLCWs BC Director, you may be requested to review work scopes or work products to make sure they include appropriate limitations and assumptions. The position may also be required to work with HDR legal, project managers, business group managers and area managers in reviewing go/no go decisions, SOWs, contracts, and project pricing.

Preferred Qualifications

Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand

MS in civil, environmental or water resources engineering is preferred

Fifteen (15) years related experience.

Experience as a task lead and/or project manager in a consulting business is preferred

Applicants must be self-starters that are highly motivated and team oriented

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills and the ability to assimilate data and put into a big picture context are essential.

Applicants must have extensive experience designing and directing large complex multi-discipline projects.

Experience with engineering during construction or construction administration experience for dam and levee projects.

Strong technical writing abilities, solid engineering background, and effective presentation skills are necessary for this position

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field

10 years experience in related field

Maintains a professional or Engineering registration and has related technical experience

Experienced in development and management of diverse teams

Works cooperatively with other business class regional directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts

Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
