Description UC San Diego Health is a Magnet designated organization, recognized for nursing excellence. The Registered Nurse will provide skilled nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures, primarily working out Jacobs Medical Center, and will need to float to both La Jolla and Hillcrest. The RN will support various service lines including Neurology, Orthopedics, Urology, Plastics, General, Oncology, Head and Neck, Vascular and Open Heart, Gynecology, and may also float to Shiley Eye Center, Koman Outpatient Pavilion pre‑op/PACU and La Jolla Procedural Treatment Unit.
Autonomous nursing care is expected, consistent with ANA Standards of Practice. Independent judgment is exercised within interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
RN License issued by the State of California.
BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire and commitment to obtain ART within 6 months of hire.
PALS certification (new employees must obtain within 1st year).
At least one year of recent acute care PACU experience with various service lines or ICU, PICU, NICU or ER nursing experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
BSN
CPAN and/or CAPA
Special Conditions
Per diem shift requirement is an average of 1 shift per week, with availability for one weekend shift every 4 weeks and one major holiday. Subject to change based on department needs.
Ability to work various hours, days, shifts, on‑call and multiple locations based on the 24‑hour Medical Center's business needs.
Employment subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $180,716. Hourly Equivalent: $86.55.

Life‑support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands‑on practice and in‑person skills assessment; online‑only certification is not acceptable.
