Senior Assistant Director, Employer Relations (HR Title: Employer Relations Specialist III) We are looking for an experienced Employer Relations Specialist to join the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. The Senior Assistant Director will focus on recruiting activities and career outcomes for over 3,500 business students.

About the Position The role is an on‑campus, in‑person position. The Senior Assistant Director will cultivate relationships with employers, alumni, community partners, and staff to enhance partnerships, increase student employment opportunities, maximize post‑graduate outcomes, and strengthen the Cox network.

Essential Functions

Employer Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with employers and alumni; develop and implement strategies and tools to build their brands; identify students for internship/full‑time roles; conduct outreach; organize recruiting events; communicate changes to stakeholders.

On‑Campus Recruiting (OCR) Operations: Serve as primary point of contact to guide recruiters through the OCR process; present OCR‑related information to employers and students in virtual and in‑person settings; provide real‑time support during events (occasional morning/evening hours may be required).

Program Management: Oversee employer relations for assigned special recruiting programs (e.g., Career Accelerator Program) and serve as main CMC lead for events such as Women in Business Dinner, Black History Month Event, International Student Mix and Mingle.

Cross‑Team Collaboration: Meet with career coaches, alumni relations, institutes, and other campus partners to exchange up‑to‑date information regarding employer engagement.

Operations: Support office operations; source job postings; approve employer accounts and postings per university policies; direct student assistants.

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Some evenings and early mornings may be required for career‑related events.

Occasional travel to site visits, conferences, and workshops.

Education and Experience A bachelor’s degree is required (preferred fields: higher education, HR, business, communications, or related field). A minimum of five (5) years of experience in higher education, a career center, university advancement/development, HR, talent development, or event management is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills; ability to build effective relationships across the university. Strong written communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with career services platforms (Handshake or 12twenty) and CRM is preferred.
