About us Accton Technology Corporation, founded in 1988, is a leading networking hardware and solution provider. With more than three decades of experience, Accton specializes in the design and manufacturing of high-performance Ethernet switches, routers, and data center networking systems for top-tier global customers. Accton works closely with hyperscale and enterprise customers, providing deep engineering collaboration from early design through high-volume manufacturing.
In the global AI race, computing power is no longer limited by silicon alone, it is highly defined by thermal management and rack-level system integration. As power density skyrockets, the ability to integrate advanced liquid cooling and optimize power consumption has become the ultimate competitive advantage for the world’s leading data centers.
As a global leader in AI networking and open Infrastructure, Accton architects the high-performance cooling solutions that make Hyperscale AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) a reality. We are looking for visionary engineers to join our San Jose team at the bleeding edge of system Integration, solving the thermal bottlenecks that empower the next generation of AI innovation.
Role Overview We are seeking a senior Field Application Engineer (FAE) to lead our engineering service team and support all rack-level system issues during NPI and early deployment stages.
You will lead to troubleshooting of complex rack-level failures (L10/L11/L12), execute precision component repairs, and validate full-stack system interoperability. As a senior engineer, you will also assist in refining failure analysis processes and ensuring all redeployed racks meet strict quality standards.
This role is for a person who has leadership, is hands‑on, customer‑oriented, and willing to work directly with our customer engineering teams.
You will also serve as a key technical interface between Accton’s internal engineering teams and customer teams, supporting system‑ and rack‑level solutions in on‑site environments.
Responsibilities
Provide on‑site system‑ and rack‑level services during NPI and early production stages
Serve as the technical interface between customers and Accton engineering teams
Advanced rack‑level diagnoses and troubleshooting
Perform deep‑dive root‑cause analysis on fully assembled server racks reported failure from customers.
Isolate complex failures to specific subsystems (Motherboard, CPU/GPU, DIMM, PSU, or PCIe Fabric) using Linux‑based diagnostic tools, IPMI/BMC logs, and serial console outputs.
Troubleshoot network connectivity issues within the rack, covering ToR switches, optical transceivers, and DAC/AOC cabling integrity.
Diagnoses and troubleshoots hardware issues from power and liquid cooling systems.
Perform precise repairing process
Hands‑on works including disassembly, hardware replacement, reassembly of failure switch and rack system.
Cable management: ensure all power and data cables are routed properly
Configuration restoration: Flash BIOS/BMC firmware to specific versions and configure IP settings to match original customer requirements
Liquid cooling system: replacing cooling‑related parts (e.g. piping, joints, and cold plate modules)
Perform functionality checks
Subsystem Interoperability Check:
Verify end‑to‑end communication between repaired compute nodes, Top‑of‑Rack (ToR) switches, and management networks. Ensure replaced hardware is correctly recognized by cluster management software and interacts properly with Rack PDUs (power capping/monitoring)
Firmware & Stack Consistency:
Validate that BIOS, BMC, OS, CPLD, and Driver versions strictly match the "Golden Image" or the compatibility matrix of the entire rack. Identify and resolve version mismatches that cause integration failures (e.g. NIC firmware conflicting with Switch OS).
Liquid cooling system functionalities: ensure the system can operate at designed cooling capabilities (i.e. temperature and fluid pressure).
Respond promptly to customer issues and provide timely technical support
Support and maintain Accton’s lab operations, including setup and functionality checks
Travel approximately 10–20% as required for customer support
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or IT‑related field.
5+ years
of hands‑on experience in data center operations, server manufacturing, or system integration testing (SIT).
Hardware Mastery: Deep understanding of x86 server architecture (CPU, GPU/AI Accelerators, NVMe, BMC) and Data Center infrastructure (Open Rack, Standard 19
