Direct Hire Solicitation Duties

Serves as a Licensed Practical Nurse for a Defense Health Agency (DHA) Medical Treatment Facility (MTF).

Performs direct patient care and care coordination activities such as referral management, order reconciliation, and activity tracking.

Takes all vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, pain level, height, weight, measurement of head circumference, and length); performs a behavioral health screening.

Provides individualized nursing care to patients of all ages based upon the physician’s medical care plan.

Informs and educates patients and/or family regarding self‑care procedures.

Requirements

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

A Personnel Security Investigation is required.

This position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.

This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re‑verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.

This position requires the completion of a pre‑employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is required.

Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Must possess and maintain a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.

This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre‑employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.

All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.

This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
