As part of its continued growth, the firm is investing in its in‑house Tax team to deepen proactive planning and elevate client outcomes. About the Role
This is a full‑time, in‑office Senior Tax Manager role based in Phoenix, AZ. You will serve existing firm clients—there is no expectation for business development or client acquisition. The practice intentionally caps return volumes to ensure proactive planning, responsive service, and meaningful client interaction. You will report directly to the Tax Director and help shape a best‑in‑class tax experience within a collaborative advisory environment. Responsibilities
Lead high‑level client meetings, translating complex tax issues into clear, actionable planning for high‑net‑worth and family office relationships. Oversee preparation and review of federal and state returns (including Forms 1040, 1041, 1065, and 1120‑S) for accuracy, completeness, and timely filing. Deliver year‑round, proactive tax planning—estimated taxes, entity selection, equity compensation, charitable and wealth transfer strategies, trust and estate considerations, and multi‑state matters. Analyze individual and business returns to surface planning opportunities, drive efficiencies, and flag potential risks; document and present recommendations. Partner closely with advisors and internal teams to ensure integrated wealth and tax strategies that align with client objectives and regulatory requirements. Research nuanced federal and state tax topics; draft clear, well‑supported memoranda and responses to client inquiries. Mentor and develop junior tax professionals; review workpapers and returns; contribute to workflow improvements and technology utilization. Manage special initiatives and department‑wide projects as assigned by the Tax Director; maintain rigorous quality control and on‑time deliverables across peak periods. Qualifications
8+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting and/or an RIA/family office environment, including prior Manager/Senior Manager responsibilities. Active CPA or JD required. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field. Required Skills
Comprehensive expertise in individual taxation, with strong working knowledge of S corporations, partnerships, trusts, and nonprofit returns. Client‑first mindset with excellent communication skills; ability to explain complex concepts simply and credibly. Exceptional attention to detail, prioritization, and deadline management. Technology fluency: MS Office; experience with CCH Axcess, CCH Workflow, and Holistiplan preferred. Preferred Skills
