California Labor & Employment Attorney – Latitude Legal Latitude Legal is partnering with a well‑established San Diego labor & employment law firm to engage a California‑licensed Labor & Employment Litigation Attorney on a part‑time engagement basis (approximately 10–20 hours per week). The ideal candidate will be based in San Diego and primarily work remotely, with the flexibility to come into the office periodically for collaboration, hearings, or team needs. This engagement role is open to permanent or engagement‑to‑hire candidates.

About the Role This is an excellent fit for an experienced employment litigator who enjoys sophisticated, employer‑side work but prefers greater balance and flexibility than a traditional full‑time role. You will support a seasoned team on meaningful employment disputes while avoiding the pressure of high billable requirements.

Responsibilities

Support employer‑side employment litigation matters in California state and federal court.

Draft and argue motions and pleadings, including dispositive motions and substantive briefs.

Handle written discovery, assist with depositions, and support mediation and trial preparation.

Work on matters involving wage and hour claims, PAGA actions, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and related employment disputes.

Conduct legal research and analysis and provide practical, business‑minded litigation support to partners and clients.

Collaborate closely with a small, experienced litigation team in a collegial, low‑ego environment.

Qualifications

California‑licensed attorney with 4+ years of general litigation experience; employment litigation experience strongly preferred but not required for a strong litigator.

Solid background in legal research, writing, and analysis, with comfort drafting substantive motions and discovery.

Experience defending employers in complex litigation (including PAGA and class claims) is a plus.

Professional, responsive, and able to manage assignments independently in a remote/hybrid setup.

Licensed to practice law in California and in good standing.

J.D. from an accredited law school.

Outstanding references.

Located in San Diego and willing to come into the office as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay: The annualized pay for this position ranges from $180,000 to $210,000 when calculated on a full‑time basis.

Benefits: Latitude Engaged Professionals are W2 employees of Latitude and are eligible for full benefits when working in roles for 20 hours per week, including a Qualified 401(k) plan, group life, LTD and AD&D, professional liability insurance, CLE, and professional expense stipend.
