Overview We are looking for a highly motivated analyst consultant with experience in freight planning at the federal, state, regional, and/or local level. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in economic and statistical analysis of freight infrastructure, strategies, and policies. Ideal candidates will also have a background in data science and programming and be eager to innovate and advance the state of practice.
Responsibilities
Help public agencies at all levels of government (and some private clients) make better investment, policy, and planning decisions.
Independently lead complex qualitative and quantitative analysis and research.
Direct primary and secondary research, as well as technical analysis.
Collaborate with teams across service areas and business lines.
Contribute to marketing and business development efforts.
Present approaches and findings in conferences and publish where appropriate.
Skills, Interests, and Experiences
Experience with multimodal freight plans (at the state, regional, and local levels), modal freight plans, market studies, and/or federal grant support.
Knowledgeable in multimodal freight systems, freight operations, urban freight strategies, sustainability, freight technologies, and supply chains.
Data science and modeling experience with large freight data sets, including GPS, travel times, commodity flows, international trade, etc.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
Program/project delivery implementation experience is highly desirable.
Contributes to thought leadership and research.
Recognized for technical excellence.
Experience with analytical packages and/or programming languages (GIS, R, Python, Tableau, PowerBi, etc.).
Experience with leveraging Artificial Intelligence tools and techniques to support planning, research, and analysis tasks.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
Excellent communicator with the ability to deliver complex ideas and results in an intuitive and effective manner to a non-technical audience.
Required Qualifications
5-7 years of experience (includes relevant graduate research experience).
Degree in engineering, economics, data science, statistics, applied mathematics, business, public policy, or urban planning.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s policies.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree or higher is preferred.

Compensation Expected Salary (all locations): $86,100 - $150,590. WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
