Job Overview
AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking Certified Laboratory Phlebotomy Technicians to perform patient specimen collection and processing services at WRNMMC. The technicians will ensure proper specimen identification, collection, and handling across various departments. This role is key to ensuring accurate and timely laboratory testing in compliance with all MTF, Joint Commission (JC), and federal guidelines.
General Duties
Adhere to WRNMMC standing orders and medical protocols.
Support lab operations with professional, accurate, and ethical phlebotomy practices.
Participate in meetings and improvement initiatives when assigned.
Specific Duties
Identify patients and label all specimens accurately.
Perform venipunctures using age-appropriate and condition-specific techniques.
Maintain strict sanitary standards to prevent contamination or disease transmission.
Ensure specimens are properly handled, prepared, and routed for laboratory analysis.
Input and update patient records in the medical record system.
Follow all MTF and JC regulations related to specimen collection and documentation.
Complete required orientation and competency programs.
Participate in clinical or administrative meetings as needed, contributing to process improvement.
Qualifications
Degree/Education: Certificate or degree from an accredited phlebotomy training program.
Certification: Required – ASCP, HHS, or American Medical Certification.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of phlebotomy experience required.
Licensure: None required.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Skills and Abilities
Effective communication in English (spoken and written).
Proficient in data entry and using electronic medical records.
High attention to detail in specimen collection and documentation.
Knowledge of lab safety standards and infection control practices.
Able to handle different patient populations with professionalism and care.
Schedule
Monday through Saturday
Between 0600 and 1800 hours
8-hour shifts on scheduled workdays
Work Environment
Hospital laboratory setting
Frequent interaction with patients and clinical staff
Must adhere to medical safety and infection control procedures
Immunization Requirement
Must meet WRNMMC immunization requirements due to patient exposure.
Security Requirement
Must pass a federal background check and credentialing process.
