Phlebotomist
The primary role of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various duties, troubleshooting issues, providing training, and making workflow recommendations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment.
- Update patient information and ensure accurate collection and storage of specimens according to established procedures.
- Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collections, such as urine or fecal, in a clear and courteous manner.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Fully understand physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
- Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
- Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures.
- Follow procedures specific to protocol to maintain the integrity of specimens for transport.
- Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department trainings.
- Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Essential Skills:
- Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
- Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 6 months-2 years of related experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in medical, pediatric, and geriatric patient care.
- Expertise in healthcare, drawing blood, and handling patient information.

This is a Contract position based out of The Villages, FL.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
