Waverly Credit Partners is hiring: Credit Associate (Philadelphia) in Philadelph
Waverly Credit Partners, Philadelphia, PA, US
Company description
Waverly is building a private credit platform focused on manufactured housing (MH) chattel loans. We are hiring a Credit Associate to work directly with the founder on originator diligence, loan tape diligence, data quality, and lender-ready reporting. This is a high-ownership role in a lean, two-person team. The founder will lead sourcing, capital markets, and senior relationships; you will run point on execution, analytics, and process.
Waverly is well-capitalized with strong LP support and meaningful room for growth. This is not a modeling-only role. Expect messy data, operational diligence, and tight documentation. You will have direct exposure to both investment decision-making and the operational mechanics of building a credit platform.
To move quickly, email jack@waverlycap.com with further instructions below. LinkedIn Easy Apply is fine, but we will only schedule screens after receiving the email with the items below. Applications reviewed every 1-3 days for duration of job posting.
Location and work model
- Philadelphia based
- Center City office, in-person 3 days per week (short commute expected)
- Remaining days flexible (home or office), with full responsiveness
What you will own
Loan tape ingestion and QA
- Ingest loan tapes from originators and servicers and normalize to a consistent schema
- Build repeatable QA checks (missingness, outliers, reconciliations, duplicates, field definition drift)
- Maintain a clean data dictionary and version-controlled tape history per deal
Diligence and closing execution
- Own the diligence tracker end-to-end: requests, follow-ups, exceptions, cures, and audit trail
- Coordinate with sellers, servicers, custodians, and third-party reviewers (founder signs off on external comms)
- Maintain a closing checklist and ensure deliverables are complete and internally consistent
Portfolio analytics and reporting
- Produce cohort and static pool reporting: delinquencies, roll rates, defaults, severities, recoveries, prepayments
- Build strat tables and exhibits that drop directly into IC memos, lender packs, and investor materials
- Maintain monthly portfolio reporting templates and concise what changed summaries
Borrowing base and lender readiness
- Implement eligibility tests, concentration limits, haircuts, and trigger monitoring
- Prepare lender diligence packages: tape mapping, reconciliations, servicing report ties, and collateral file exception summaries
What we are looking for
- 3 to 7 years of experience in specialty finance, credit operations, structured credit, warehouse lending, servicer analytics, whole loan diligence, or adjacent fields
- Demonstrated experience cleaning imperfect loan-level datasets and building controls so they stay clean
- Strong Excel skills required (SQL or Python is a plus, not required)
- Comfort operating in a lean environment with ambiguous inputs and tight timelines
- High attention to detail, sound judgment, and clear written communication
Preferred experience (nice-to-haves)
- Experience working with multiple originators and inconsistent servicing data
- Consumer ABS, whole loan trading, specialty finance warehouses, or servicer reporting packages
- Borrowing base mechanics, eligibility testing, covenant monitoring, or collateral file review
Growth path:
- First 90 days: tape ingestion, reconciliations, exception logs, diligence checklists, lender-ready reporting, financial analysis, initial IC material decks
- After you prove accuracy and ownership: you will help build IC materials, contribute to underwriting models, support portfolio pricing, and sit in on lender and seller calls
- This is not a pure investing role on day 1, but it can become one for the right person
Compensation
- Base salary range: $100,000 to $120,000, depending on experience
- Benefits included
- Salary-forward compensation, with discretionary annual bonus
- Meaningful long-term incentive in the form of profits interest, subject to vesting
Application process & timing
- Target start date of February 1 to March 15
- Process: founder phone screen (15mins) -> founder video interview -> work sample (60-120mins) using an anonymized tape -> in-person founder interview -> offer.
