About the Opportunity
A highly regarded boutique private client & tax practice in Chicago is seeking an ambitious Junior Tax Attorney (2–5 years) to join its growing team. This role is ideal for someone who wants deep mentorship, sophisticated work, and a clear long-term pathway in a top-tier estate planning and tax environment.
You’ll work closely with nationally recognised partners on estate planning, trust administration, tax compliance, and advisory matters for high-net-worth families and family offices. Expect hands-on exposure, meaningful responsibility early on, and direct client interaction.
Key Responsibilities
Assist partners with estate planning, trust administration, and complex tax structuring
Draft planning documents, research memoranda, and client advisory reports
Conduct substantive tax research across trusts, estates, and private client matters
Participate in client meetings and strategy discussions
Collaborate with senior attorneys on family office and generational wealth planning
Required Qualifications
2–5 years of tax experience (law firm or top-tier accounting background)
Strong academic record and interest in private client work
Excellent drafting, research, analytical, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
LL.M. in Taxation or CPA
Familiarity with CRUTs/CRATs, GRATs, ILITs, dynasty trusts
Experience with nonprofit/exempt organizations
Prior publications or speaking engagements
Compensation $175,000–$235,000 salary range Full benefits + structured professional development
