Position Overview We're seeking an experienced Senior Controller to lead financial operations and provide strategic financial guidance as the company continues to grow. This role will oversee all accounting functions, manage the NetSuite ERP system, and ensure accurate financial reporting in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate brings deep manufacturing accounting expertise, particularly from a smaller company setting, and has a proven track record of implementing and optimizing NetSuite for production-based operations.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, inventory, and fixed assets
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports
Lead the month-end and year-end close processes
Manage annual budget development and ongoing forecasting processes
Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision‑making
Manufacturing & Cost Accounting
Develop and maintain cost accounting systems for contract manufacturing operations
Track and analyze production costs, raw material usage, and inventory valuation
Establish and monitor standard costs for finished goods and work‑in‑process
Conduct variance analysis on materials, labor, and overhead
Support pricing strategies for custom formulations and white label products
Compliance & Controls
Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and cGMP financial requirements
Maintain and strengthen internal controls and financial policies
Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies
Oversee annual audit process and tax filings
Implement SOPs for financial processes
Systems & Operations
Serve as NetSuite system administrator and power user
Optimize NetSuite configurations for manufacturing workflows and reporting needs
Lead system improvements and implementations as business needs evolve Train staff on financial systems and processes
Integrate NetSuite with production, inventory, and quality management systems
Manage and mentor accounting staff
Foster a culture of accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement
Collaborate cross‑functionally with operations, R&D, and sales teams
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred
7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a controller or senior accounting leadership role
Manufacturing company experience required , preferably in a small to mid‑sized organization
Proven expertise in NetSuite ERP system
with hands‑on experience in manufacturing/production modules
Strong knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory management, and production costing
Deep understanding of GAAP and financial compliance requirements
Experience with cGMP or FDA‑regulated manufacturing environment preferred
Proficiency with financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
Excellent communication skills and ability to translate financial data for non‑financial stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in food, supplement, or consumer packaged goods manufacturing
Contract manufacturing or private label business model experience
Background in implementing or optimizing NetSuite in a manufacturing setting
Experience managing external audits and multi‑state tax compliance
