Our client is a $500M food manufacturer in the Chicago Loop, that has goals to get to $1B over the next five years through organic growth and acquisitions. The team is rapidly expanding across accounting and finance to focus at the corporate level and ensure the most optimal processes are in place for long-term success.

Job Description

Accounting Manager Responsibilities:

• Lead the monthly financial close process across four manufacturing plants, integrating multiple accounting systems (Sage and SAP) and managing foreign currency transactions
• Review and approve journal entries and accruals to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
• Oversee monthly account reconciliations and weekly bank reconciliations to maintain the integrity of financial records
• Prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement; develop trend analyses and quarterly lender reporting packages
• Partner with FP&A, operations, and plant finance teams to analyze variances and monitor financial performance
• Conduct ad hoc financial analyses and contribute to special projects to support business decision-making
• Support the annual external audit by preparing required documentation and coordinating with auditors
• Contribute to the development and documentation of business processes and standard operating procedures to enhance financial reporting and internal controls
• Identify and recommend process improvements, leveraging data and automation to increase efficiency and reduce complexity
• Assist in the design and implementation of new financial systems and reporting tools to drive operational excellence
• Provide leadership and mentorship to Senior Accountants, supporting their professional growth and development

The Successful Applicant

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of experience in accounting and finance
• Experience in the manufacturing industry
• Experience with consolidations of multiple entities, with exposure to international entities preferred
• Experience working through acquisitions and integrating them into the organization
• Experience setting up financial reporting
• SAP experience is a must have
