Project Engineer, Highway – GFT GFT

is seeking a

Project Engineer, Highway

to join our Transportation Team in downtown Chicago, IL. This hybrid role requires regular attendance at our Chicago office.

What You’ll Do

Assist in phase I and phase II roadway and bridge design projects.

Prepare plans, quantity calculations, geometric design, pavement marking/signing, drainage design, traffic studies, traffic signal design, public involvement, and report writing.

Write specifications, cost estimates, and other related tasks using OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, Geopak, and MS Office.

Manage junior engineers and technicians under project manager guidance and complete tasks independently.

Required Experience

Minimum 4–10 years of roadway, bridge, aviation, transit, and rail design experience.

Experience with preliminary engineering, detailed plans, and specifications for Illinois DOT, Illinois Tollway, Chicago DOT, local counties, and federally funded projects.

Illinois PE and Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.

Previous highway, drainage, construction inspection, traffic signal, and lighting experience is expected.
