Base pay range $130,000.00/yr - $175,000.00/yr
Metric Engineering is looking for a Traffic Operations Project Manager to manage and coordinate the development of various traffic signals, signs and pavement markings within our Traffic Department. The Traffic Operations Project Manager will lead design teams to produce design plans and engineering reports to accomplish project scopes and goals while supporting clients in planning and executing contracts and projects. The Traffic Operations Project Manager will perform quality control of the work of other EORs and help train the team to increase the team’s experience and expertise.
Day‑to‑Day
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to develop project schedules, budgets and project plans to accomplish project goals and objectives
Performs technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects
Supervises team members and performs quality assurance on assigned projects and tasks, coordinating with clients to ensure all project obligations are met and clients are satisfied
Develop scopes and fee estimates for project tasks
Review, interpret, comment, and provide technical guidance on production plans for traffic engineering projects
Responsible for compliance to FDOT specifications and company requirements ensuring all work activities are completed on time and within budget
Coordinates with client to ensure all client needs are met
Participates in marketing efforts, proposal write ups, project interviews, and Q&A sessions
Prepares bid documents with fee estimates for marketing efforts
Performs post design duties and shop drawing reviews
Oversees projects through completion of construction/integration and final acceptance
Performs tasks throughout the state of Florida with the potential availability to travel outside the state Light to moderate travel is anticipated
Traffic Signal Retiming: Lead projects related to signal retiming, including the development, implementation, and optimization of timing plans for coordinated and isolated systems
Design: Create plans and specifications for traffic signal systems, isolated signals, intersection improvements, and signing and marking projects
Traffic Studies & Analysis: Conduct traffic studies and operational analysis using VISSIM, Synchro, and other tools to assess traffic flow and signal operations
Traffic Retiming Studies: Conduct traffic signal retiming using Synchro and other tools to improve signal system operations
Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS): Apply systems engineering principles for the development and deployment of signal and other ATMS
Field Work: Perform field verifications of existing and proposed traffic control devices and make recommendations for improvements
Technical Reports & Client Delivery: Prepare traffic engineering reports, conceptual designs, and technical deliverables, ensuring on-time and on-budget completion
Coordination: Provide technical support and task management for multi-disciplinary transportation projects, collaborating with roadway, structures, environmental, and other teams
Requirements
BA in Engineering
Florida Professional Engineering License (PTOE preferred)
IMSA Level II
Advanced MOT
Full comprehension of the Florida Department of Transportation policies, specifications and a variety of Traffic signal field concepts, practices, and procedures
Expertise in Traffic engineering planning, design and analysis
Expertise in traffic operation modeling including simulation and analytical modeling using macro and microscopic software (Synchro, Tru‑Traffic, Corsim, Vissim, Sidra, SimTraffic, etc) Development of traffic operations studies for corridor and intersection analysis
Knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), Traffic Engineering Manual (TEM), and Manual on Uniform Traffic Studies (MUTS)
Knowledge of Federal, State and County roadway standards and specifications
Knowledge of the principles, practices and method of traffic movements, volumes and geographic factors affecting traffic flow
Knowledge of the components and function of traffic signal equipment
Project management and team management skills
Marketing support and client management skills
