About the Role
Under general supervision, is responsible for providing leadership and direction to daily branch operations. Supervises and trains branch personnel in lending and deposit services. Ensures all branch personnel deliver exceptional customer service aligned with the Credit Union's core values and mission statement. Ensures branch is compliant with Credit Union policies and procedures, maximizes branch sales, and minimizes operating losses. Responds to member inquiries and processes transactions, assisting members and potential members in understanding and utilizing Credit Union products and services.
What You Will Do
Ensure the branch is open and ready to conduct business each business day.
Responsible for general maintenance, security, and safety of the branch.
Oversee the ordering and verifying of currency shipments for the branch.
Ensure that the branch balances all transactions at the close of each business day and may assist tellers and others to resolve adjustments.
Authorize adjustments, maintain petty cash records, and audit safe deposit boxes.
Ensure all equipment is in proper working order and oversee department data retention.
Promote cross‑sales of the credit union's products and services.
Supervise and direct branch personnel to provide efficient and effective member services. Interview, recommend for hire, schedule, assign work to, establish performance expectations, and recommend discipline or discharge. Coach and counsel staff on an ongoing basis.
Coach and develop staff in the area of sales. Plan and conduct weekly sales meetings and maintain target cross‑sell ratio. Create, implement, and monitor branch sales campaigns.
Provide member services such as explaining savings and checking programs, opening new accounts, issuing traveler's checks, IRAs, certificates, approving checks, and dealing with members with special concerns.
Research and resolve member inquiries, explain specific policies and procedures, and assist branch personnel by answering questions and resolving more complex work‑related problems.
Proactively identify potential members and work to retain existing members while ensuring compliance with member service standards.
Perform all duties of a Loan Officer. Take loan applications, interview members, provide disclosures, conduct credit checks, and ensure documentation is complete.
Maintain a positive working relationship with outside vendors and stay current on new product development and regulations impacting Retail Banking Operations.
Participate in management meetings, communicate information to subordinate staff, and engage in local civic and community organizations to seek new business opportunities.
Perform other managerial and/or branch related duties as assigned by the VP-Regional Branch Manager. Perform all duties of an Assistant Manager, Member Services Representative, Head Teller, Assistant Head Teller, and/or Teller as needed.
Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. BA/BS in Business, Finance or related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be substituted for a degree.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge
Minimum 3 to 5 years progressively responsible experience in branch operations. Knowledge of teller, member service, and loan policies. Minimum two years previous supervisory experience.
Excellent verbal, written, telephone, and interpersonal communication skills.
PC proficiency including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet.
Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously.
Ability to sell products and services and conduct business development calls on members and potential members.
Ability to function in a financial institution branch environment and utilize standard office equipment including PC, fax, copier, telephone, postage machine, etc. Travel required.
