Headfirst Summer Camps .
Base pay range $13.00/hr - $18.00/hr
Position Overview At Headfirst, we design fun, intentional, and transformational camp experiences where every camper feels seen, known, and celebrated. We create “Headfirst Moments” when a camper tries something new, pushes through fear, and realizes, “I can do it.” As a Certified Lifeguard, you will supervise pool safety during swim classes, assist in swim testing for recreational swim blocks, and bring enthusiasm and safety to the pool area.
Schedule In‑season (late June through mid August): 7:45 am – 3:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Pre‑season (early June): select weekends for training and site preparation.
What You’ll Do
Big Picture: Keep the Aquatics Area Safe and Bring a Love of Swimming to Life
Supervise swimming activities and ensure that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed and understood by both campers and staff.
Administer first aid, rescue swimmers in distress, and CPR or artificial respiration when necessary.
Implement Headfirst’s safety protocols on supervision, bathrooms, emergency policies, and pool safety procedures.
Attend in‑season safety trainings and continually develop swim instruction and first responder skills.
Execute morning and afternoon carpool, welcoming families by name with enthusiasm.
Nurture Physical, Social & Emotional Safety
Work directly with campers to support their emotional, physical, and social development through hands‑on exploration.
Know each camper’s individual swim needs and encourage growth in swim skills.
Represent Headfirst for Families & Facility Partners
Represent the Headfirst brand daily to families and school facility partners in uniform, enthusiastic, and helpful manner.
Actively participate in caring for our camp facility and community.
Be an Active Member of the Camp Team
Arrive on time, communicate schedule changes promptly, and be a loyal, consistent team member.
Be flexible with assignments and open to supporting other programs on site.
Handle the Curveballs
Practice resiliency and approach challenges with a “How can I help?” mindset, prioritizing camper experience and team success.
Requirements
Must be at least 16 years old with at least two (2) years of high school completed or equivalent professional experience.
Experience in swimming or camp settings preferred, but not required.
Ability to swim and remain in a swimming pool for extended periods of time.
Comfortable working around small children, including standing, running, and climbing stairs for a full day.
Capacity to work in hot and outdoor environments while actively supervising campers.
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds occasionally.
Commitment to the Cell‑Phone Free policy: phones must be placed in a locked pouch for the duration of the shift.
Lifeguard Certification and First Aid required.
CPR Certification, or the ability to obtain certification before May 30.
