Job Description Summary

State of Hawaii Guard Card Required. Security Specialist Role

The Security Specialist is responsible for property safety, the Workers’ Compensation program, general liability claims, and hotel security functions including fire prevention, safety, investigation, and resolution of safety and security matters. Essential Functions

Record, transcribe, and maintain official minutes for safety meetings, Safety Committee sessions, and leadership-directed safety briefings. Support Workers’ Compensation claim support, General Liability incident documentation coordination, and maintain departmental case logs for audit and retention purposes. Oversee the upkeep, audit, and verification of Security officer compliance records, including State of Hawaii Guard Card documentation, First Aid/AED/CPR certification rosters, expiration tracking, renewal coordination, and other required licensing or credentials applicable to Security staff. Maintain OSHA-related training and certification logs, SDS (Safety Data Sheet) access and organization, incident documentation indexing, and prepare Security compliance packets or file handoffs as directed by resort leadership or Risk Management. Track CCTV retention compliance and ensure documentation aligns with preservation standards. Deliver Sonesta Service in all interactions with guests and clients. Manage standards according to Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. and instill a passion for customer service in all associates of the hotel. Perform normal hotel security functions to include dispatch, fire prevention and safety checks. Investigate thefts, accidents, and other incidents that occur on the property. Prevent losses of company and guest property due to thefts, burglary, priority, and other criminal activity. Ensure a safe and tranquil environment for guests and employees. Resolve guest and employee complaints regarding safety and security matters. Understand and execute all safety and emergency procedures (e.g., fire, crowd control, inclement weather, bomb threats). Understand and operate emergency equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, wheelchairs, respirators). Monitor the activities of personnel on the premises to detect and counter thefts and other criminal activities. Complete associate’s forms and reports related to any accidents or issues within the premises of the hotel. Attend safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments. Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner. Perform work without direct supervision and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Immediately report hotel deficiencies to appropriate departments for immediate repair. Display daily professional, courteous, attentive, helpful, and positive attitude towards all guests, fellow employees, and managers. Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team to reach common goals. Follow Sonesta’s policies and procedures according to company guidelines. Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets. Perform other job duties as requested by supervisors/managers as other job duties may be assigned as needed. Understand Sonesta’s company and safety policies and maintain compliance with OSHA and the health department requirements. Qualifications

State of Hawaii Guard Card Required. 2 years of experience in security or a related field preferred. Experience in a hotel or hospitality-related field preferred. Valid driver’s license (may require operation of motorized and electric vehicles). CPR and First Aid Certification required. Ability to read and write effectively. Knowledge of Windows OS, MS Office, and POS. Self-driven and able to work independently. Strong issue resolution skills and proven analytical skills with strong attention to detail. Physical Demands

Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, bend, twist, pull, and stoop. Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period. Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces. Move up and down ladders, stairs, and service ramps. May exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly. May carry, lift, or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds and push or pull approximately up to 100 pounds. Ability to stand and walk on a continuous basis during the entire shift and run as warranted. Hours of Work

Work varying schedules to reflect business needs of the hotel. Flexible to work various days and shifts of the week to include weekends, holidays, days, nights, and overnight. Regular attendance in conformance with hotel standards is essential to successful performance of this position. Pay Range

$31.72–$34.00 base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as job related knowledge, skills, and experience. Benefits
