Director – Mass Spectrometry‑Based Biomarker Discovery – Neuroscience
Location: Boston, MA (Lilly’s research facilities)
We are seeking an experienced biomarker discovery director to lead the development and validation of mass spectrometry‑based assays for neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, ALS, and rare brain disorders. This role reports to Dr. Kaj Blennow, Vice President of Neuroscience Biomarker Development.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and validate novel mass spectrometry‑based assays for early‑ and late‑phase clinical trials.
Lead in‑vitro experiments and mentor junior associates.
Plan and execute method development, optimization, and sample analyses in collaboration with internal and external partners.
Implement assay validation procedures to deliver high‑performance biomarker assays.
Serve as technical expert for in‑house and outsourced biomarker discovery efforts.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with medical, operations, statistics, regulatory, and CROs.
Communicate findings through presentations, publications, and strategic discussions.
Basic Qualifications
PhD in Neuroscience, Biochemistry, or related field.
5+ years of industry, academic or postdoctoral experience in biomarker development.
Recognized expertise in mass spectrometry‑based assays for brain diseases.
Additional Skills / Preferences
Deep understanding of mass spectrometry technology and instrumentation.
Proficiency in advanced mass spectrometry studies.
Leadership experience managing and mentoring biomarker research teams.
Strategic thinking, problem‑solving, and innovation in biomarker discovery.
Excellent communication, collaboration and negotiation skills.
Ability to translate scientific insights into clinical applications.
Compensation and Benefits
• Salary: $184,500 – $321,200 (annual)
