Obstetric Anesthesiologist

Opportunity:

The Department of Anesthesia at Kaweah Health is currently recruiting for an exceptional Obstetric Anesthesiologist to join its cohesive, exceptional, and innovative care team. The candidate will join a group of 10+ anesthesiologists and over 30 CRNAs. Most importantly, the candidate will be working with our independent fully accredited Anesthesiology Residency Program of 16 residents.

The ideal candidate will be board-certified in Anesthesia or board-eligible with a plan to become board-certified within a three-year period. In this role, you will be the Director of Obstetric Anesthesiology, acting as the primary contact for the Anesthesia Department with regard to all things related to Obstetric Anesthesia. Additionally, you will still have responsibilities in the Main OR, allowing for the development and maintenance of all skills required of a successful Anesthesiologist.

Responsibilities/Duties

Provide leadership for the Obstetric Anesthesia department, ensuring up-to-date patient care.

Offer clinically and academically robust Obstetric Anesthesia experiences for residents.

Provide occasional anesthesia coverage in the following locations:

General Surgery

Vascular Surgery

Orthopedic Surgery

Podiatric Surgery

Ophthalmological Surgery

Gynecological Surgery

Plastic Surgery

Urological Surgery

Trauma Surgery

Labor and Delivery Anesthesia

Primarily supervising residents (more than 90% of the time), occasionally operating independently

10-hour shifts on non-call days

Participate in approximately one-24-hour out of house call per week in the Main OR; OB call remains in house.

Post-call day off

Non-clinical days available for Faculty Staff

Requirements

ASA Board Certification or Eligibility

Current ACLS, BLS, PALS

Active CA license

Interest in teaching and residency education

Compensation

1099 Independent Contractor status

$270/hour rate for hours worked in the Operating Room

Potential for increased hourly rate through weekend call shifts.

Estimated annual compensation of $650,000 based on 55 hours a week with 6 weeks of vacation.

Additional annual OB Director stipend of $25,000.00

Flexible scheduling to allow for a desirable work-life balance.

Additional earnings possible by covering extra shifts.

Up to $40,000 sign-on bonus with a 3-year full-time retention

Up to $100,000 student loan forgiveness with a 4-year full-time retention

Compensation is subject to annual market rate adjustments.

Anesthesiology Residency

Four residents per class.

Residents take in-house call every 24 hours.

For those interested in a role beyond clinical teaching, faculty positions within the GME are available. (Separate contract provided by the GME office)

Coaching on working with residents provided to all incoming anesthesiologists.

Medical Students and Emergency Medicine residents also rotate with the service.

Living in Visalia Visalia sits in the heart of the Central Valley and is referred to as the Gateway to the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.

Conveniently located between San Francisco and Los Angeles, approximately 3 hours from each, it is known for its agriculture, it's delicious dining, and its warm and welcoming small-town charm.

In the summer, temperatures range from the upper 90s, during the daytime and drop to the low 80s in the evening.
