We’re actively seeking a talented developer to join our Inforce Modeling team within the Enterprise Actuarial Modeling function in Newport Beach, CA or Omaha, NE.
This role is on-site at either our Newport Beach headquarters or Omaha office.
As a Senior Actuary - Prophet Modeler, you’ll lead Prophet model development for Pacific Life’s products and collaborate with teams across Pricing, Valuation, ALM, Hedging, and IT to innovate modeling and reporting capabilities. You will be part of a team of fourteen in the Enterprise Modeling division, working alongside software and data engineers, data scientists, and fellow actuaries.
How You’ll Help Move Us Forward
- Develop models for annuity, life, and institutional products.
- Perform development, testing, and peer review of Prophet models, acting as an internal expert.
- Evaluate and recommend modeling strategies to meet business needs.
- Lead initiatives to improve and expand models.
- Partner with IT and other departments to develop simplified, effective solutions.
- Mentor junior staff on methodology and implementation.
- Support compliance with Model Risk Management standards.
The Experience You Bring
- Bachelor’s in actuarial science, computer science, finance, mathematics, or related field.
- 4+ years’ actuarial experience.
- 6+ years’ experience in actuarial modeling and coding.
- FSA Designation.
- Proficiency with Prophet in pricing, valuation, and ALM modeling.
- Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.
What Makes You Stand Out
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience coding in Python, Visual Basic, and SQL.
- Knowledge of Azure DevOps, JIRA, pipelines, and AWS.
- Advanced Prophet expertise.
- Experience with annuity, institutional, and life products, and ALM/hedging.
- CERA/CFA designation preferred.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range is $163,620 - $199,980, depending on experience and location. Benefits start on day one, including health, dental, vision, paid time off, parental leave, and a 401(k) plan with company match.
This position is full-time and classified as mid-senior level in finance and sales within the insurance industry.
