The University of Miami Health System is seeking a dedicated
Staff Physician
in
Pathology and Laboratory Medicine . This role involves direct patient care with a primary focus on
surgical pathology
across UMH, JMH, SCCC, and satellite locations.
Requirements:
Education:
M.D. or D.O.,
Board Certified/Eligible
in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
Licensure:
Must hold a valid license to practice medicine in Florida.
Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Expertise in
Anatomic Pathology .
Skilled in quality assurance processes within a
team-based model .
Familiarity with JCAHO, CAP, and CLIA standards and regulations.
Capable of
independent work , making reliable diagnostic recommendations.
Knowledge of hospital policies related to hazardous materials and biohazard precautions.
Strong interpersonal skills to foster communication and collaboration.
Job Responsibilities Patient Care Services:
Provide care at
UMH, JMH, SCCC , and affiliated satellite locations.
Primarily focused on
surgical pathology .
Responsibilities include
gross description, dissection, tissue sampling, microscopic examination , and reporting.
Specific Duties:
Conduct
Frozen Section
and
Rapid On-Site
diagnoses (as applicable).
Perform and report on
autopsies
(when required).
Participate in
24-hour call coverage
based on divisional assignment.
Contribute to
multidisciplinary tumor boards
and
site disease group meetings .
Education & Research:
Mentor and teach
pathology residents, fellows, and medical students .
Engage in
collaborative research
across the Medical Center.
Seek funding through sponsored programs, grants, and contracts.
Quality and Compliance:
Uphold standards for
JCAHO/CAP/CLIA accreditation .
Participate in
daily quality assurance
activities and departmental committees.
Maintain
accurate medical records
and ensure HIPAA compliance.
Departmental Participation:
Attend and contribute to departmental
meetings, conferences, and events .
Support the Departments commitment to excellence in patient care and academic distinction.
