Job Duties
Teach Introductory Chemistry, Chemistry for Allied Health Students, and General Chemistry.
Maintain office hours, engage with campus culture, participate in departmental responsibilities, and create and sustain an equitable learning environment district-wide.
Qualifications
Master’s in chemistry OR
Bachelor’s in chemistry or biochemistry AND
Master’s in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, physics, molecular biology, or geochemistry OR
The equivalent degree.
Job Required Core System Competency Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students pursuant to Title 5, §53022.
Desirable Qualifications
Teaching or instructional experience, including courses taught at any level, mentoring, TA or laboratory instruction, development of lectures, labs, syllabi, or instructional materials.
Experience assessing progress relative to goals and working with a team to implement improvements.
Experience or interest in building a chemistry program tailored to the needs of community students, including those pursuing STEM, health science, and agricultural careers.
Enthusiastic participation in professional responsibilities, community and campus service.
Confidence to work independently and coordinate with a distributed team.
Experience working with diverse students, demonstrated through commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and use of varied teaching strategies.
Experience in the community college environment and/or primarily teaching institution culture.
