Howard County Government – Police Department CALEA Accreditation Coordinator Location : Howard County, Maryland – centrally located between Baltimore and Washington.

Position Summary : Primarily responsible for coordinating the CALEA Accreditation process within the Police Department.

Salary Range $63,034 – $69,039

per year (annualized base).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Identify and collect data to maintain files as required by CALEA.

Coordinate CALEA Accreditation tasks to meet deadlines and assure efficient workflow throughout the Department.

Maintain files and reports pertaining to CALEA Accreditation assignments and projects.

Identify and suggest program monitoring systems and procedures for the improvement of agency performance in compliance with applicable CALEA Accreditation standards.

Review department directives to ensure they meet the latest CALEA standards.

Review a wide variety of complex and technical issues concerning law enforcement standards and the CALEA Accreditation process.

Provide CALEA Accreditation training for Departmental personnel.

Attend CALEA meetings and local accreditation network meetings.

Interact with various Departmental components to complete assignments.

Keep informed concerning the Accreditation process, including proposed changes or amendments to the standards, transition policies, or process changes, and evaluate the impact of these changes on Department policies and procedures.

Maintain logs pertaining to work assignments and manage data within PowerDMS and CIMRS.

Minimum Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and one (1) year of related experience

or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Law enforcement experience or a combination of law enforcement and relevant administrative work experience.

Strong organizational and record‑keeping skills.

Ability to analyze complex technical issues and translate them into actionable plans.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency with database systems (e.g., PowerDMS, CIMRS) and general Microsoft Office suite.

Valid driver’s license.

Physical Demands and Work Environment The work environment is primarily quiet. The employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
