Senior Linux System Administrator (AWS) – Top Secret Clearance
Location:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Linux System Administrator with proven expertise in AWS cloud environments to support mission‑critical systems within a classified defense program. This position is fully onsite in Huntsville, AL, supporting a federal intel agency. The ideal candidate has deep experience managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or similar distributions, implementing automation and infrastructure‑as‑code solutions, and maintaining high‑availability, secure cloud environments in compliance with DoD security standards.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) in classified and unclassified environments.
Design, implement, and maintain AWS infrastructure (VPC, EC2, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, RDS, EFS).
Automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment tasks using Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
Monitor system performance, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement performance tuning.
Patch and harden Linux systems to meet DISA STIG and RMF compliance requirements.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and security policies in accordance with DoD standards.
Support and integrate CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure continuous monitoring and incident response.
Participate in Agile/Scrum sprints, providing infrastructure support to development and QA teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
8+ years of hands‑on Linux system administration experience (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
Proven experience managing cloud infrastructure in AWS (VPC, EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, CloudFormation, CloudWatch).
Proficiency in troubleshooting networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, load balancers).
Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, AWS CodePipeline).
Working knowledge of security hardening (STIGs, CIS benchmarks) and RMF controls.
Excellent problem‑solving, documentation, and communication skills.
Desired Certifications
Familiarity with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/EKS).
Experience with AWS GovCloud or classified AWS regions.
AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or Solutions Architect.
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
Security+, CISSP, or equivalent DoD 8570 certification.
Exposure to monitoring tools (Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios).
Benefits Our standard benefits include 3 weeks of paid time off (PTO that includes sick leave). Any unused PTO will be issued as a check at the end of an employee's anniversary with us. We also provide 2 floating and 8 public holidays. Floating and holidays expire at the end of every year of service of an employee. In addition, the company will cover 50% of health and dental insurances for all full‑time employees; however, dependents can be added at extra cost. Employee's health and dental coverage becomes effective after 30 days or the first of the month after an employee completes initial 30 working days. We provide STD, LTD and one‑time salary equivalent of life insurance at no cost to all full‑time employees. All full‑time employees or W‑2 employees with no benefits will be eligible to participate in the company's 401(k) program after 90 days of employment with a company match of 4% and immediate vesting. In addition, all W‑2 employees are eligible to be part of company's profit sharing, with no employee contributions required.
