About The Role Design, implement, and maintain scalable technology assets leveraging AWS cloud technologies. Provide end‑user support, system administration and problem resolution in our mixed Windows Server environment (Server 2016, Server 2019, Server 2022).
The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) – Office of Information Services and Technology (IS&T) is seeking a Cloud Engineer with intermediate expertise in solution development within a modern cloud‑based ecosystem. The successful candidate will design, implement, and maintain scalable technology assets leveraging AWS cloud technologies using our approved tool stack. Provide end‑user support, system administration and problem resolution in our mixed Windows Server environment (Server 2016, Server 2019, Server 2022).
The role involves hands‑on solution engineering specifically on the AWS cloud platform, designing APIs, automating cloud infrastructure provisioning, implementing security best practices, and applying DevOps methodologies to streamline development and deployment processes.
Additional Responsibilities
Implement and maintain full‑stack cloud‑native solutions on AWS.
Build responsive and user‑friendly front‑end applications using React, Node.js, and TypeScript.
Leverage native cloud services to design, develop, and maintain cloud‑based solutions.
Develop and maintain APIs tailored for cloud environments leveraging AWS API Gateway.
Implement cloud networking concepts, including VPCs, subnets, and security groups.
Adopt cloud security best practices, including IAM.
Implement serverless computing and event‑driven architecture using AWS Lambda and AWS DynamoDB.
Automate cloud infrastructure management using IaC (AWS CloudFormation, AWS SAM, Terraform).
Script and automate tasks using Python.
Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting for cloud infrastructure (AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail).
Optimize deployment pipelines for CI/CD using AWS CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, CodePipeline.
Collaborate with senior team members and business owners to deliver robust cloud‑based solutions.
Assist in designing scalable and resilient cloud engineering solutions aligned with business needs.
Ensure comprehensive testing, security compliance, and operational stability of solutions.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation.
Contribute to research and development initiatives and participate in technology skill enhancement programs.
Experience in Microsoft server and network administration for end‑user and vendor support.
Proficient use of personal computers, ability to analyze data, document procedures, resolve technical issues, prepare reports, provide desktop system support for users with a broad range of technical knowledge.
Operational and administrative experience with Windows Servers and various SaaS environments.
Qualifications
Intermediate proficiency with the AWS Cloud Platform and familiarity with standard software engineering best practices.
Strong experience implementing full‑stack web applications using React, Node.js, and TypeScript on the front‑end, and implementing serverless back‑end APIs using AWS Lambda and NoSQL databases (e.g., AWS DynamoDB).
Experience with scripting languages (Python, Node.js).
Solid understanding of version control (Git), DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
Analytical mindset and problem‑solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate across diverse teams and build relationships with stakeholders.
Passion for learning new technologies and staying updated on tech trends.
Experience in on‑prem, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure with focus on scalable, resilient, secure solutions.
Industry certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect/Developer – Associate level).
Microsoft Server Engineer certifications.
Requirements
Windows Server Administration (Server 2019 & Server 2022) – Required 10 Years.
Intermediate proficiency with AWS Cloud Platform – Required 5 Years.
Strong experience implementing full‑stack web applications using React, Node.js, and TypeScript – Required 5 Years.
Experience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Node.js) – Required 8 Years.
Solid understanding of version control, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines – Required 5 Years.
