Jr. Modeling and Simulation Software Engineer
MTSI is seeking a highly motivated Modeling & Simulation SW Developer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in assessing the capabilities of the Missile Defense System (MDS). This critical role will involve working in a distributed Hardware‑In‑the‑Loop (HWIL) simulation environment, contributing to Continuous Developmental Integration (CDI) activities, MDS Ground Test (GT) events, and MDS Flight Test support. Our team is at the forefront of software assurance and cloud modernization for Model & Simulation (M&S) systems.
Key Responsibilities
Partner closely with MDA Azure Cloud initiatives to containerize critical software while ensuring security, performance, and scalability.
Code verification, development, and prototype development – ensuring software quality, security, and maintainability.
Code reviews for framework and supporting M&S software.
Baseline qualification testing – validating operating system patches, network updates, and hardware changes before enterprise deployment.
Cloud and containerization leadership – enabling the transition of M&S frameworks and element software into modern, containerized environments.
Support advanced development through a high‑side AI server cluster for code development, analysis, and documentation.
Additional Responsibilities
The Software Developer will design, develop, and deploy AI‑driven automation solutions, primarily using C++, within a HWIL simulation environment.
Perform code verification, review, and analysis for frameworks and supporting M&S software.
Lead and execute prototype development to validate new features and technologies.
Conduct baseline qualification testing for OS, network, and hardware updates prior to enterprise rollout.
Design and implement containerized solutions for M&S and Tactical applications and supporting infrastructure.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate software into MDA's Azure cloud ecosystem.
Leverage and maintain a high‑side AI server cluster to support development, testing, and analysis efforts.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (BS) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.
Active Secret Clearance.
0–3 years of experience with containers (Docker/Podman) and container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift, K3s, etc.).
Proven ability to work across development, testing, and infrastructure domains.
Strong knowledge of software verification, testing practices, and modern DevSecOps environments.
Desired Skills
Experience with Azure Cloud or other enterprise cloud environments.
Active Top Secret Clearance.
Familiarity with high‑side or secure network environments.
Knowledge of AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) for development or analysis workflows.
Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps tools.
