Base Pay Range $130,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr
Position Overview Our client, an established financial services company, is looking for a Reinsurance Finance Manager. The Reinsurance Finance Manager will lead and govern the financial accounting, reporting, controls, and analytics for ceded reinsurance premiums, claims, commissions, and recoverables across multiple regulatory regimes. Ensure accurate, timely close and disclosures under GAAP / IFRS (IFRS 17 & LDTI) while delivering decision‑quality insights that protect capital and optimize reinsurance performance.
Key Responsibilities
Own monthly and quarterly close for ceded reinsurance, including journals, accruals, deferrals, and reconciliations.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, IFRS 17, LDTI, and statutory accounting requirements.
Validate Statements of Account (premiums, claims, commissions, profit share/sliding scales).
Controls, Compliance & Audit
Maintain strong ICFR / SOX controls, SOAs, RACIs, and audit evidence.
Serve as primary finance interface for internal/external audits and regulatory examinations.
Ensure compliance with reinsurance contract terms, regulatory calendars, and disclosure requirements.
Oversee reinsurance recoverables, settlements, and cash discipline in partnership with Treasury.
Monitor aging, collateral (LOCs, trusts), credit risk, impairments, and concentrations.
Coordinate recoveries and dispute resolution with reinsurers and brokers.
Analytics & Business Partnering
Deliver standardized MI, KPIs, and KRIs covering ceded ratios, LRC/RCN, cost of reinsurance, and treaty economics.
Partner with Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, Treasury, and Operations to support pricing, portfolio optimization, and performance improvement.
Ensure consistency between actuarial measurements and finance results.
Systems, Process & Data
Drive automation, standardization, and process improvements across reinsurance finance.
Own finance requirements for system enhancements (e.g., REQS/ROE/ERP).
Enforce standardized bordereaux ingestion, validations, close calendars, and checklists.
Leadership
Coach and develop the team, embedding a continuous‑improvement and first‑time‑right culture.
Key Qualifications & Expertise
Deep experience in reinsurance accounting and finance.
Strong knowledge of IFRS 17, LDTI, GAAP, statutory accounting.
Proven ownership of close, controls, audits, and regulatory reporting.
Expertise in recoverables, collateral, credit risk, and treaty mechanics.
Advanced analytical, stakeholder‑management, and process‑improvement skills.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance or related field; 5 - 7 years of relevant experience.
Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Detail‑oriented and analytical.
