Overview WSP seeks a Site Civil Engineer to support the electrical utility service areas. Our department specializes in high-performing projects focusing on the future. The role reports to the Rocky Mount, Virginia location with remote work capability and periodic travel to a POWER office for meetings.
Responsibilities
Prepare and review engineering deliverables in support of civil/site engineering projects.
Use AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation for design.
Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
Perform stormwater management calculations, design, and modeling.
Execute floodplain modeling and analysis.
Develop site layout, grading, and drainage designs and drawings.
Prepare bill of materials.
Draft construction specifications.
Conduct detailed engineering reviews of work submitted by others.
Provide mentorship and guidance to team members.
Coordinate with the Project Engineer/Manager to ensure project scope, budget, and quality expectations are met.
Required Qualifications
BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering) from an accredited university.
Engineer‑In‑Training Certification.
Experience in site design for utilities, industrial facilities, municipal infrastructure, storm drainage and stormwater management design, site grading, roadway, and utility design; sanitary sewer design and analysis; construction specification development; and development of construction bid packages.
Three (3) or more years of AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation experience.
Three (3) to ten (10) or more years’ experience in civil site/design as outlined above.
Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills.
Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite.
Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineering License, with NCEES Record and state reciprocity.
Experience with stormwater management and hydraulic modeling software such as Autodesk SSA, SWMM, HEC‑RAS, etc.
Electric utility substation design experience.
Managerial and leadership skills.

Base Salary Range: $70,000.00 – $111,700.00 per year.
The range for this position is displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(k) match, etc.
