Job Description:
The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for evaluating, selecting, and applying standard electrical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria for assigned projects or tasks.
This role supports project execution through the preparation of original designs, layouts, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
The engineer collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance, quality, and timely delivery while mentoring junior team members.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate, select, and apply standard electrical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria for small to medium-sized projects or assignments.
Design, develop, modify, and evaluate electrical components and systems related to power generation, transmission, distribution, and storage.
Prepare or assist with conceptual studies, designs, reports, and proposals.
Coordinate electrical engineering activities with specialty groups, other engineering disciplines, clients, vendors, contractors, construction, and functional teams.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior electrical engineers when delegated.
Support project and construction management in identifying and complying with electrical requirements during execution.
Assist in resolving complex technical and regulatory issues through interaction with customers and regulatory agencies.
Complete electrical documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
Select components and equipment based on technical analysis, specifications, and reliability considerations.
Experience:
Level I: Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent with five to eight years of relevant experience.
Level II: Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent with eight to ten years of relevant experience.
Skills:
Strong knowledge and application of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE standards.
Experience as electrical responsible engineer for medium to large material requisitions including transformers, switchgear, substations, UPS systems, and bulk materials.
Knowledge of medium voltage systems and low voltage systems including switchgear, MCCs, switchboards, distribution boards, and lighting panels.
Proficiency in power system one-line diagrams, schematics, and connection diagrams.
Knowledge of electrical raceway design and layout including lighting, communications, grounding, and lightning protection systems.
Strong collaboration skills with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Qualification And Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or international equivalent.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Electrical Engineering (Power) preferred.
Prior experience as a senior engineer on medium to large industrial projects preferred.
Experience coordinating designs across multiple EPC office locations preferred.
