Role Overview Beehive Industries is looking for an energetic and driven Principal Engineer to lead the compressor aero design, analysis, and development of a novel compressor design utilizing new technologies. This role will partner with hardware owners and various cross‑functional leadership on a daily basis to develop and deliver overall engine performance for customers.
What You’ll Do
Execute the aerodynamic design, analysis, and evaluation of a centrifugal compressor using sound engineering principles while meeting industry standards and program requirements.
Deliver aerodynamic solutions using 1‑D, 2‑D, and 3‑D tools with gas turbines, including evaluation of tip leakages, end wall contouring, and design for secondary flow and cooling features.
Lead component and system trades from an aerodynamic perspective, setting test objectives, limits, instrumentation, data requirements, and test planning for component validation.
Serve as the aerodynamic design subject‑matter expert as part of a diverse system design team, ensuring products and sub‑systems meet overall design requirements while advocating for component durability and understanding trade‑offs.
Lead design reviews and coordinate with other disciplines in design, performance, stress and life, additive manufacturing, materials, and system analysis.
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
Lead methodologies to develop new technologies that optimize the overall aerodynamic performance of a gas turbine with additive manufacturing, participating in research and development of associated technologies.
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated consistent with engineering best practices.
Work with suppliers to procure hardware and resolve producibility and quality issues.
You Have
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
At least 12+ years of experience in gas turbine component design.
Strong understanding of design software tools.
Experience working with gas turbines for aviation product applications from a mechanical and aero design perspective.
Experience with additive manufacturing technologies and familiarity with design for additive manufacturing principles.
Passion for additive technology and willingness to challenge current design limitations.
Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Demonstrated problem‑solving ability and strong program leadership and execution skills.
Proven self‑starter and quick learner.
Due to contract requirements with the Department of Defense, U.S. citizenship is required for this role, and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance is required.
Pay Range In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this position is $158,904–$221,052 base salary. Pay is a general guideline and will be considered along with scope, responsibilities, experience, education, and market conditions.
