Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy by acting as a role model for all, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team.

As a DSP, you cover pharmacist scheduling gaps and support the pharmacy teams under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager (PM) and Rx District Leader (DL). You are accountable for supporting the management, oversight, and operation of the pharmacy and pharmacy team across stores in the district.

Responsibilities

Manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.

Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator (DPC); oversee the pharmacy and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts.

Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following and directing the pharmacy team to follow pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails at every workstation.

Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.

Co‑create positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, coaching the pharmacy team to do the same, and proactively resolving insurance or medication issues.

Proactively offer and deliver immunizations, engaging and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.

Support pharmacy inventory management in all pharmacies worked by guiding the pharmacy team to follow inventory best practices, focusing on protecting cold chain products.

Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic.

Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, including required training, CMEs, and expanding knowledge to better support patients.

Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception) and empower the pharmacy team to provide holistic care.

Understand and comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS Health policies, controlled substance dispensing and recordkeeping, patient privacy and security, and maintaining a safe and inclusive workplace.

Required Qualifications

Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located.

Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).

Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.

Essential Functions

Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs arise.

Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.

Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.

Attention and focus: concentrate on a task over time, pivot quickly, confirm prescription information and label accuracy.

Customer service and team orientation: look for ways to help people, respond to patient reactions appropriately.

Communication skills: use verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues; active listening.

Mathematical reasoning: use math to solve problems such as determining tablet dosages and amounts.

Problem resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action.

Physical demands: mobile, lift, scan, bag, reach, and perform repetitive finger tasks; occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.

Additional tasks as directed by supervisor or manager.

Preferred Qualifications

1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.

Time Type Full time

Pay Range Typical pay range: $65.00 – $81.00 per hour (base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary). Actual base salary will depend on experience, education, geography and other factors. This position is eligible for CVS Health bonus, commission or short‑term incentive programs.
