Position Purpose The Pediatrics House Physician is responsible for providing medical care to assigned children from birth to early adulthood in the inpatient and hospital outpatient setting.
Essential Functions
Examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses.
Administer immunizations to protect children from diseases such as hepatitis B, diphtheria, polio, measles, and mumps.
Write orders for the implementation of the plan of care.
Compile and document all pediatric patient assessments, interventions, and evaluations in the medical record and complete and sign all medical records.
Work with children’s parents or guardians to teach them how to provide proper care to their children on a regular basis.
Participate in the hospital’s Risk Management Program and follow all rules and regulations of the program, as well as the hospital’s policies and procedures.
Participate in quality assurance and utilization review when necessary.
Respond to all pediatric codes and other emergencies in the hospital and be responsible for the emergency medical management of the patient.
General Job Requirements
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Maintain a permanent license to practice medicine in the State of Illinois.
Strong initiative and good judgment and decision‑making skills.
Ability to prioritize time‑sensitive assignments.
CPR and PALS certification.
