Hours & Schedule
5-Day: Monday - Friday, 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM
4-Day: Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday (4‑Day options)

Our Team Pine Heights Comprehensive Treatment Center is part of Acadia Healthcare's Comprehensive Treatment Centers, the leading provider of medication‑assisted treatment. The counseling team delivers compassionate, high‑quality counseling and therapy to patients seeking recovery from Opioid Use Disorder.
Your Job As a Substance Use Counselor The Substance Use Counselor is instrumental in patients’ treatment and recovery from opioid use disorder. Counselors provide high-quality, compassionate care through individual and group counseling sessions.
Job Responsibilities
Provide compassionate guidance in individual and group counseling sessions.
Plan, oversee, facilitate, and document patient recovery.
Co‑facilitate assigned group or family sessions as needed.
Ensure all documentation regarding patient care, treatment, and incidents is completed timely and clearly.
Prepare individualized treatment plans for each assigned patient.
Conduct initial and follow‑up assessments.
Evaluate patient needs and determine referrals to other programs or facilities.
Plan aftercare for assigned patients.
Provide crisis intervention as needed.Perform case management duties to ensure individualized quality care.
Act as liaison between referral sources and patients.
Compensation Calculated salary range: $27 - $30 per hour (Maryland). Eligible positions may qualify for student loan forgiveness through HRSA, depending on clinic site eligibility.
Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications
Associate’s degree in social or health services field, with 2+ years experience in counseling, or
Bachelor's degree in social or health services field, with 2+ years experience, or bachelor's in another field with 4+ years in counseling, or
Master's degree in social or health services field, with 1 year of professional work experience.
Degree must be from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Skills And Qualifications
Previous experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings.
Familiarity with Medication‑Assisted Treatment (methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone).
Experience conducting individual and group counseling focused on substance use recovery.
Knowledge of evidence‑based practices such as CBT, MI, and relapse prevention techniques.
Documentation experience maintaining clinical notes, treatment plans, and progress updates per state and federal guidelines.
Familiarity with state regulatory standards (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission).
Experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary team with medical staff, case managers, and peer support specialists.
