Position Summary The Project Engineer is responsible for a defined portion of a project and is accountable for maintaining accurate project documents, coordinating with the Superintendent, and assisting the Project Manager in monitoring project status. This entry‑level project management role requires proficiency in managing minor‑scope projects (defined as ≤$7,000,000 in annual construction cost or other specified metrics).

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

Develop, maintain, update, distribute, and manage estimates.

Document cost estimates for change orders assigned by the Project Manager.

Recognize and manage critical paths within the project schedule.

Maintain the master schedule, updating it as changes occur.

Count and verify quantities constructed for the weekly labor report.

Assemble delivery tickets and other documentation to support client invoicing; submit information to Billing Dept.

Review project cost reports, identify trends, and recommend cost‑management ideas.

Effectively manage the RFI process, daily reports, drawings, and submittal logs.

Obtain and verify shop drawings as assigned.

Prepare and submit product data of materials and equipment (submittals) to client/agent for approval.

Maintain up‑to‑date, accurate as‑built documents and submit them upon project completion.

Maintain proper safety records.

Coordinate support functions, including project start‑up, with internal and external team members.

Keep a daily log of key activities and decisions as assigned by the Project Manager.

Effectively manage the change order and billing process and direct meetings.

Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with subcontractors.

Assist in orienting subcontractors to the project.

Evaluate subcontractor performance with the Project Manager at project conclusion.

Create and engage in relationships with key union contacts.

Understand and assist in the application of buy‑out procedures.

Understand Alberici’s quality guidelines and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards; aid in QA/QC.

Assist with surveying on the project site.

Help produce or procure drawings (CAD) as needed, including crane layouts, as‑built, and critical lift points.

Assist in commissioning and start‑up.

Stage, prepare, phase, and sequence site logistics within budget and schedule.

Conduct visual inspections of the project, identifying deviations from construction practices and client expectations.

Coordinate inspections with local regulatory bodies; accompany inspectors and maintain inspection records.

Verify and track quantities of key materials used in construction.

Manage the punch list process.

Establish rapport with architects, engineers, owners, and department managers.

Build effective relationships with the client, client agents, and client employees onsite.

Provide information to clients and agents to ensure a positive construction experience.

Monitor contract adherence with the Project Manager and inform of potential deviations.

Thorough knowledge of SafeRing policies and practices.

Practice and enforce the Company safety policies; model safety as top priority and wear appropriate PPE.

Contribute to a safe project site and obtain necessary safety equipment.

Conduct safety inspections and report potential unsafe conditions.

Identify patterns of unsafe conditions and inform the Project Manager.

Complete accident investigations and reports as directed.

Document safety violations.

Review the Labor Productivity Report weekly.

Plan and review cost‑effectiveness of materials purchased by the Superintendent monthly.

Travel to Company and subsidiary offices; attend off‑site client, subcontractor, and supplier meetings across North America as required.

Maintain regular and reliable attendance in person.

Management Responsibilities May manage and direct non‑supervisory administrative employees at a project site.

Education and Experience Applicants must maintain collegiate status for the duration of the internship with a focus in Civil, Construction Management, Industrial, Mechanical, or related engineering fields. Individual assignments vary based on project scope, phase, and job requirements.
