Position Summary The Detailing Coordinator I supports the Engineering and Detailing Department in the preparation of detailed drawings and documentation for structural steel projects as a part of Hillsdale Fabricators, a premier structural steel fabricator and erector. This role contributes to the company’s long‑standing reputation for delivering complex steel structures with exceptional precision, safety, and quality. The Detailing Coordinator I works collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and field personnel to ensure drawings meet project specifications and align with Hillsdale’s commitment to innovation, craftsmanship, and customer satisfaction.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
Preparation of detail drawings that comply with job specifications, design criteria, Hillsdale standards and applicable Code requirements.
Preparation of erection drawings and/or marking plans required for the project.
Preparation of material list requisitions.
Coordinates with third‑party detailing and engineering firms.
Coordinates with other trades as it relates to Hillsdale scope.
Reads and follows set schedules.
Participates in project meetings, including, but not limited to kick‑off meetings, closeout meetings and shop‑prep meetings.
Travels to company and subsidiary offices; off‑site client, subcontractor, and supplier meetings; and other locations across North America to fulfill the essential duties of the role as required.
Exhibits regular and reliable attendance in person as required by the supervisor, company guidelines, and/or project and office obligations.
Education And Experience Associate or bachelor’s degree in computer drafting or equivalent plus 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in Tekla, AutoCAD, or equivalent software programs is preferred.
