Software Engineer – Hedge Fund
Location: New York, NY
A leading hedge fund in New York is seeking talented Software Engineers to help build and evolve the technology that drives its investment strategies. Engineering plays a critical role across the firm, supporting everything from quantitative research and data analysis to live trading and risk management.
This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy working close to the business, solving complex technical problems, and owning systems that operate at scale in production. You will have direct exposure to real time decision making environments and the chance to shape core platforms used across the investment.
This is a hands on engineering role with real responsibility. You will be expected to write high quality code, make sound design decisions, and support systems that are essential to daily trading activity.
What You’ll Do
Build and maintain core software platforms used for research, trading, and analytics
Collaborate with quantitative researchers and investment professionals to deliver reliable, production ready solutions
Develop data pipelines, internal tools, and compute infrastructure to support large and complex datasets
Improve system performance, reliability, and observability in live environments
Take ownership of services throughout their full lifecycle, including deployment and ongoing support
Contribute to technical direction, best practices, and long term architectural decisions
What We’re Looking For
Strong background in software engineering with experience delivering production systems
Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, C++, Java, or Go
Solid grasp of algorithms, data structures, and software design principles
Experience working with distributed systems, data intensive applications, or performance sensitive code
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline
Comfortable working in a fast moving environment with high standards and accountability
Additional Experience That’s a Plus
Background in finance, trading systems, or quantitative research environments
Experience with large scale data platforms or compute clusters
Knowledge of low latency design, concurrency, or systems level programming
Prior collaboration with quants, researchers, or data scientists
