Machinery Maintenance Mechanic MMNMC (MST II Engineer)
Position: Full-time, Exempt
Location: Naval Base Ventura County, Port Hueneme, CA
Pay: $36.78/hr

Overview SA-TECH is a leading Department of Defense contractor providing range operations, maintenance, and technical support for Army, Air Force, and Navy training assets. The role serves as Ship's Chief Engineer on a 264‑ft steel Mobile Ship Target (MST II) located at NBVC Point Hueneme, performing vessel maintenance, preventive maintenance, and assistance with equipment fabrication.
Responsibilities
Conduct daily vessel operational checks.
Perform scheduled and unscheduled vessel maintenance.
Follow preventive maintenance programs using technical service manuals and schematic charts for marine engines and related equipment.
Assist in fabrication of equipment and recommend required parts and supplies.
Serve as a crew member on vessels of various sizes.
Operate forklift, handle HAZMAT, use PPE, and employ small hand tools.
Work Conditions
Indoor and outdoor duties on shore and afloat.
Work on even or uneven surfaces; dry or wet.
Seaborne environment, shift work at remote locations with multiple overnight assignments.
Must lift 50 lbs.
Travel to remote locations required; routine deployments on support and target vessels; occasional INCONUS and OCONUS.
Overtime required at times.
Schedule: 9/80 (Mon‑Thu 9 hrs, alternate Fridays 1 work 8 hrs, 1 off).
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Technical school training or 4–6 years of experience in marine maintenance.
Experience in a military environment preferred but not required.
Basic understanding of computer networking and MS Office.
Team‑player, strong communication skills.
Must lift 50 lbs.
Travel CONUS and OCONUS for mission support.
Basic knowledge of generator systems, marine auxiliary equipment, hydraulics, and electrical.
Corrosion control, prep, and painting of steel surfaces; non‑skid applications.
Current CA Driver’s License required; insured through company vehicle insurance policy.
U.S. Citizenship required; must obtain U.S. DoD Security Secret Clearance prior to start date and maintain through employment.
Background screening: SSN, driver record, criminal background investigation.
Pre‑employment physical: physical, drug screen, vision & hearing testing, medical condition certification, back X‑rays.
