Responsibilities
Assume unit responsibility for the practice, quality of care, and service delivered.
Provide leadership and support to encourage the optimum development and performance of staff members.
Manage all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment in a cost‑effective manner.
Ensure quality of care and patient satisfaction through unit‑specific systems and improvements.
Ensure operational profitability with preliminary budgets, performance data, system reporting, and inventory management.
Provide care to patients, effectively using the nursing process.
Communicate pertinent information to patients, families, and staff.
Participate in activities for professional development and maintain required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials.
Manage, develop, retain and inspire an engaged workforce.
Perform other related duties as required.
Education Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor’s Degree in Science of Nursing (BSN) is required for all Ochsner Magnet Facilities.
Work Experience Required: 3 years of experience as an RN including 1 year as a charge nurse, supervisor, or leader.
Certifications Required: Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of nursing practice.
Exceptional leadership skills.
Good organizational and time‑management skills and ability to be self‑directed.
Physical and Environmental Demands Medium work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue. The incumbent works in a patient care area and may be at risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste.
