Our client, a private family office in San Clemente is seeking a skilled Human Resources Generalist to join their team.
HR Generalist – Family Office

$75,000 – $90,000 annually
Position Overview
The HR Generalist will support the day-to-day people operations of a private family office, providing hands‑on HR support across multiple affiliated entities. This role is ideal for an HR professional who values discretion, relationship‑building, and operational excellence in a small, high‑trust environment.
The HR Generalist will serve as a trusted internal resource for employees and leadership, managing core HR functions including onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and HR operations. This is an onsite role requiring a proactive, detail‑oriented professional who is comfortable balancing structure with flexibility.
Human Resources Operations
Manage employee onboarding and offboarding processes, including documentation, orientation, and systems setup
Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and HR documentation
Support day‑to‑day HR inquiries related to policies, benefits, and employment practices
Employee Relations & Support
Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions and concerns
Assist leadership with employee relations matters, performance issues, and workplace concerns
Foster a positive, respectful, and professional workplace culture
Benefits & Payroll Support
Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans
Coordinate with benefits brokers and payroll providers
Assist with payroll processing, audits, and reconciliation as needed
Compliance & Policy Management
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
Maintain employee handbook and HR policies; support updates as needed
Assist with training related to compliance, safety, and workplace best practices
Support hiring efforts, including job postings, interview coordination, and offer documentation
Partner with leadership to ensure a smooth and professional candidate experience
HR Projects & Process Improvement
Assist with HR-related projects, systems implementation, and process improvementsHelp develop scalable HR practices as the organization evolves
Qualifications & Experience
1–5+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or similar HR role
Experience supporting small organizations, family offices, or private companies preferred
Strong knowledge of HR operations, employee relations, and employment compliance
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Proficiency with HRIS systems, payroll platforms, and Microsoft Office / Google Workspace
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with California employment law
Comfortable working in an onsite, relationship‑driven environment
